FREE Accidental Counsellor – half day eLearning & facilitated session, February 12th, 9:00am – 12:30pm
Accidental Counsellor – FREE Two part (blended) learning course compising:
- eLearning module (1.5hr), for optimal learning experience this is best competed prior to attending the facilitator-led session. Module available to access 3 for months.
- Facilitated session (3.5hr), interactive face-to face or virtual classroom (the zoom video conferencing is used for virtual delivery).
Accidental Cousellor is aimed at those who would like to be able to safely and effectively support friends, family, colleagues, and strangers who are in distress or experincing a crisis. The course provides you with basic skills and a structure to enable you to provide immediate support and assistance using the ‘Recognise, Respond, Refer’ model. Learnt skills of active listening, calming, effective gentle questioning can be applied in many contexts including how to openly ask about suicide risk and respond safely whatever the answer.
Open to anyone and no pre-existing skills or knowledge are required. Lifeline can also tailor the course to suit your corporate envirnoment.
Accidental Counsellor is not an RTO accredited course; there is no assessment or formal qualification to be obtained. However, it can contribute to CPD points.
Accidental Counsellor is being delivered as a training component of the Lifeline Community Connections initiative and is delivered by a Lifeline Trainer. Lifeline Trainers have the skills and knowledge to deliver this course using the comprehensive Accidental Counsellor training package. after undertaking the train the trainer course.
